If your vehicle is equipped with ABS brakes, don’t pump the brakes; pumping the brakes will disable the ABS. Instead, press down hard on the brake pedal and hold it down until you come to a complete stop. Don’t worry about possibly locking the wheels. If the ABS computer senses that a wheel is about to lock, it will automatically release that brake to get the wheel rolling again, then reapply the brake. Look and steer in the direction you want to go.
