In B.C., all occupants – the driver and all passengers – must wear seatbelts or appropriate child restraints whenever the vehicle is in operation. You can be fined for not wearing your seatbelt. You can also be fined for transporting an unrestrained passenger under 16 years of age. If an unrestrained passenger is at least 16 years old, he or she can be fined.
