#1. If your vehicle is equipped with antilock brakes (ABS), how should you brake in an emergency?

Press the brake pedal firmly and hold it until your vehicle stops.

Pump the brake pedal until your vehicle stops.

Press the pedal three times to activate the ABS.

Pump the brake pedal until your vehicle slows down, then hold the pedal.

If your vehicle has ABS brakes, don’t pump the brakes. Apply full, firm, steady pressure to the brake pedal. The ABS computer will automatically release and reapply a brake for you when it senses that wheel is about to lock up.
