#1. How can you check whether the trailer spring brakes have activated?

Apply slight engine power.

Operate the trailer hand valve.

Rock the truck back and forth.

Gun the engine.

To check whether the trailer spring brakes are on, release the tractor parking brakes, shift into low gear and gently tug against the trailer spring brakes. Those brakes should prevent your vehicle from moving.
