Each application of the service brakes uses some air. If the air compressor doesn’t replenish that air, air pressure will naturally drop. The trailer air supply valve can sense a major drop in air pressure caused by a leak or rupture in the trailer air supply line, and the valve will close to prevent further air loss from that line.
